The Sacred Heart Chapel
Our Lady of the Atonement Catholic Church

A photograph of the sanctuary of the Sacred Heart Chapel at Our Lady of the Atonement, Church San Antonio.  The chapel contains the columbarium with six hundred niches.  The sanctuary lamp is 19th century French Gothic.  The intricately carved credence cabinet on the epistle side of the altar is from the mid-19th century.  The icon of the Blessed Virgin and Holy Child was obtained in Ephesus, near the site of the Virgin's house, on our recent pilgrimage to Greece and Turkey, and is hand-painted egg tempera with a silver and gold covering (called an "oklad").  The chapel seats approximately eighty people, and the early daily weekday Mass is celebrated here.

This stained glass window is located on the west end of the Sacred Heart Chapel.
